Olamide Zaccheaus is back with the team where his pro career began, as the Atlanta Falcons signed the veteran wide receiver on Tuesday.
Zaccheaus, 28, caught on with Atlanta as an undrafted free agent in 2019 and played there until joining the Philadelphia Eagles as a free agent after the 2022 season.
What followed was one season in Philadelphia, one with the Washington Commanders and one with the Chicago Bears before Tuesday's reunion.
Zaccheaus amassed 94 receptions for 1,328 yards and eight touchdowns in his 55 games (23 starts) with Atlanta. He had one of his best years with Washington, where he set a career high of 45 receptions on 64 targets, tied a career best with three touchdowns and finished with 506 receiving yards, his second-highest total.
It's a different regime in Atlanta than the one that first took a chance on Zaccheaus. The Falcons have installed Ian Cunningham as their new general manager and hired Kevin Stefanski as head coach. Zaccheaus will now catch passes from newly acquired quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.
Zaccheaus has 188 catches for 2,311 yards and 15 touchdowns in his 105 career games (35 starts). He also returned punts and kicks for the Falcons in 2021 and had 17 punt returns for 179 yards with Washington in 2024.
