Learn more about defensive tackle Daniel Ekuale in this edition of Five Fast Facts.
1. Ekuale was signed to a one-year contract during free agency. In seven seasons he has appeared in 57 games, starting 21. He has 91 career tackles, 49 of them solo stops, eight tackles for a loss, six sacks, nine quarterback hits, a pass defense and a forced fumble.
2. Ekuale spent the last four seasons with the New England Patriots, after he was signed to their practice squad at the start of the 2021 season. During his time with the Patriots he appeared in 41 games, starting 16. He recorded 74 tackles, 40 of them solo stops, five sacks, six tackles for a loss, eight quarterback hits, one pass defense and one forced fumble.
3. Ekuale was originally signed by the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent following the 2018 NFL Draft. He spent two seasons in Cleveland, the first year on the practice squad and then appearing in seven games in 2019, finishing with four tackles, three of them solo stops, and one tackle for a loss. He also spent one season with Jacksonville.
4. Ekuale played college football at Washington State. He appeared in 51 games, with 22 starts, and had 71 career tackles, three sacks and two forced fumbles.
5. His given name is Tanielu Ekuale and he is from Pago Pago, American Samoa.
