Saint Louis head coach Josh Schertz is getting off the college basketball coaching carousel.
Athletic director Chris May confirmed Friday that Schertz has agreed to a contract extension to remain with the Billikens. Schertz, 50, was expected to receive calls from most of the power conference teams with job openings, including Syracuse.
He reportedly turned down an invitation from Kansas State to interview for its opening.
Saint Louis hired Schertz in April 2024 to replace Travis Ford, who was fired after a season-ending loss in the Atlantic 10 tournament.
Schertz previously spent three seasons as the head coach at Indiana State, a program he led to the NIT championship game in the 2023-24 season. Indiana State lost to Seton Hall, 79-77, in the final.
In his first season in St. Louis, the Billikens finished 19-15, a turnaround from 13-20 in 2023-24. This season, they take a 27-4 record, an A-10 regular-season title and the No. 1 seed into their quarterfinal game against No. 9 seed George Washington on Thursday in Pittsburgh.
The Billikens were ranked as high as No. 18 this season in the Associated Press Top 25 poll. They have not been to the NCAA Tournament since 2019.
