Three-time All-Star second baseman Brandon Phillips will sign a one-day contract with the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday and retire as a member of the franchise.
Saturday will be a big day for Phillips, who will be inducted into the Reds' Hall of Fame. He joins Aaron Harang, Reggie Sanders and Lou Piniella as members of the 2026 class.
Phillips, 44, began his career with the Cleveland franchise in 2002 before joining the Reds in 2006, staying in Cincinnati through the 2016 season. He recorded the most hits (1,774), homers (191), RBIs (851) and doubles (311) by a second baseman in Reds' history.
A four-time Gold Glove recipient, Phillips finished his career with the Atlanta Braves (2017), Los Angeles Angels (2017) and Boston Red Sox (2018).
