For the second time in three starts, Milwaukee Brewers flamethrower Jacob Misiorowski left a start early due to leg cramping on Wednesday night.
After holding the visiting San Diego Padres to four hits through seven scoreless innings, the 24-year-old right-hander took the mound to warm up for the eighth. However, when he got to the mound, he signaled for a trainer, who appeared to be looking at his right leg.
The team pulled him from the game without him throwing a pitch in the eighth.
After the game, Misiorowski said he came out due to cramping in his right quadriceps. The Milwaukee ace left his start on May 1 after 5 1/3 hitless innings vs. the Washington Nationals because of a right hamstring cramp.
'Probably the exact same (issue) as last time, but it was the quad this time instead of the hamstring,' he said. 'Nothing we haven't seen before. It'll be fine. I'll be ready to go.'
The Brewers led the game 1-0 at the time of Misiorowski's departure and carried that lead with two outs and the bases empty in the ninth inning. However, after reliever Abner Uribe surrendered a single and walked a batter, Padres left fielder Gavin Sheets hit a three-run homer, giving San Diego a 3-1 victory.
Misiorowski struck out 10 before exiting, raising his major-league-leading total to 80. He yielded four hits and no walks.
